History and heritage
The Barossa Valley is known for its settlement by German people. Other cultures also lived there as well. Lutheran churches and small cottages were built by settlers. On this tour we will be visiting a range of historic properties that are very interesting.
Herbig Family Tree
At Springton you will find this tree - very different to other trees in the area. It was lived in by a local family in earlier times.
Doddridge's Blacksmith Shop
This Angaston based Blacksmith shop opened in 1873. Here people can understand what life was like for a "working" smithy. It was saved from closure and is now a local icon.
Whispering Wall
This is a very interesting destination engineering wise. The Barossa Reservoir (where the wall is situated) was built between 1899-1902. The length of the wall is 144m. During construction there were up to 400 people working at the site.
Plus lots of stories to tell along the way!
